Jebo R338 Fire Hazard - Recalled

I stumbled across this picture posted in the practicalfishkeeping.co.uk forums by "JoJoJo" today. A burnt out Jebo R338 fish tank in the living room (original Hong Kong news report). I have posted problems with my lighting hood before, including a "fix". But don't be too alarmed unless you purchased your unit in Asia specifically, where it has been recalled.

I have checked out this problem with the 5 jebo tanks being recalled and apparently this is for tank sold in Hong Kong only

Thanks for the research on that - Didn't mean to scare anyone.

I don't bother with the light system anymore as it was always on the 'blink' so to speak, plus when my sister was using it for a lizard tank for a while there her light system blew up.. I have a small lamp hidden behind tank for at night so kids can watch fish.

Hey I just brought a jebo and it's my first fishtank (and fish) I'm from nz and all the fish websites I visited were selling the jebos? If they are recalled why are they still on the market but it looks like it's just a lighting problem??!! Am I going to burn my house down? Btw chucking it out isn't an option as I'm younger And I just brought it lolz

Apparently you only have to worry about this tank if you got it in Hong Kong, so you should be safe in NZ :) As I said, didn't mean to scare anyone, he he...
