Free SMS to MTN, CellC and Vodacom from your PC or mobile phone

Free082SMS has added CellC SMS and MTN SMS to its offering in the last two months. So it's now possible to send free SMS to the 3 largest cellular providers in South Africa.

CellC is the only provider limited by the fact that you need to have a CellC number to register on cellc.co.za in order to send free SMS on the CellC network. MTN allows users with non-MTN numbers to register and send SMS from mtn.co.za. You do need a Vodacom number to register for free SMS from vodacom.co.za, but non-Vodacom subscribers can also send free Vodacom SMS from any valid email address.

In other words the Free SMS offering now looks like this:

SMS to MTNSMS to CellCSMS to Vodacom
Subscribers5 SMS/day5 SMS/day20 SMS/day
Non-subscribers5 SMS/day0 SMS/day3 email to SMS/day

Free082SMS.co.za has been built to accommodate as many web enabled devices as possible. So you should have access to free SMS from just about any web enabled mobile phone or PC. You can give feedback to the active Twitter account @Free082SMS or leave comments below

Problem in receiving mms via vodacom..! pls explain

Hi Klaus you need to make sure you have MMS settings on your phone. You can send them to your phone by typing in *111# and selecting the 'Device setup' option (3 at the time of writing). The pin is normally 0000 to unlock the settings if you need one. I've also heard that you need to sometimes send an MMS before you can start receiving MMS - Give that a try and see how you go. Otherwise you will have to get in touch with Vodacom directly. Try @Vodacom111 on Twitter, they are quite responsive. Otherwise dial 111 from your Vodacom handset. All the best.

Excellent SMS service, this is added customer value & doesn't compare to other Network providers. Furthermore, it has a larger variety & options available...TP

Free082SMS does not offer MMS, sorry you need to login to vodacom.co.za on your PC to send MMS... And another friendly reminder that Free082SMS is independent of (not affiliated with) any cellular network. But we do our best to add SMS value for our users. Thanks for the compliment!

Vodacom made some changes on their website which caused problems for our SMS functionality. It should be resolved now though. Please try again. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Mahadulula, sorry to hear you have been battling. Are you sure your password is correct? No one else has reported problems and I have just tested the Vodacom SMS option and it's working fine. Please could you give me more details about what's wrong. Are you getting an error message?

The free082sms service is great. Thank you.

I tested it for replying with from my mobile after receiving a test SMS and it was sent to a 087 number, was delivered, however I have no idea where it is. Do you have an explanation, please?

Thank you again for a great service.

Regards.

Thanks for the feedback, glad you are finding the service useful. Unfortunately we do not support replies on the Free082SMS to any network in South Africa Service at the moment - They are delivered to our Bulk SMS provider, but we have not built support to process them at this time. However, we will make it more clear that this is the case for the moment. Thank you for your support.

Thank you for your [very prompt] reply above! YOU ought to be running the mobile providers!

All the best.

Hi - I've just tried smsing to an MTN number and not sure if it went through. I tried smsing a test message to my own MTN number, and the sms did not come through. Do you know what the problem could be?

Hi, We've just tested the MTN SMS and it's working. Have you registered at MTN.co.za and is your number and password correct? You should see your remaining credits drop by 1 SMS when you send the message as it deducts a credit from your daily ration at mtn.co.za. Delivery is at the hands of MTN though (or whichever provider you use) so it could just be that there was a hiccough on their site yesterday - Definitely working today though. Hope you have better luck when you try again.

Free082sms is a waste of your time. There might be sms available but it never gets delivered. So you end up spending so much time trying re send something that never gets delivered. It's a frustrating experience and because of that I won't tell anyone about this site. Although I completely enjoy using the vodacom free sms function on the site.

Glad that you find the Vodacom SMS especially useful. Sorry you've had a frustrating experience with the general Free SMS option. You have been quite vague about the exact problem though - Which country and provider were you trying to send to? Are you sure you were using a valid South African cell phone number? Free082SMS uses one of the most reliable SMS gateways in South Africa to send our SMS and we receive very few complaints. You must be sure that the confirmation page loads to show that there were no problems when sending your SMS. There are other factors involved in SMS delivery as well (like the major network problem Vodacom had 2 days ago) and so unfortunately Free082SMS can not (and does not) guarantee SMS delivery.

sorry you're having trouble... Could you give some details about your problem please? I've just tested Vodacom SMS, MTN SMS, CellC SMS and any network SMS... No problems detected?

Hi, receiveing msm's from this site and I would like to trace who is sending them, is this possible??

Rich said...

Hi. There is no way to know exactly who sent you SMS from this website - That's why senders should include their contact name / number in the SMS and it's also why you shouldn't take messages sent from this site too seriously. You can however permanently block all further messages sent from Free082SMS by replying STOP to any messages sent from Free082SMS. Please refer to http://noreply.free082sms.co.za for more info on this - Hope this is helpful.
